Create OpenBook Market ID on Solana

An OpenBook market ID is the address of an order-book market for a token pair on Solana — OpenBook is the community fork that replaced Serum. You need one only for a legacy Raydium AmmV4 pool; a Raydium CPMM pool needs no market at all.

To create a market ID: connect your wallet, select your token as the base token and SOL as the quote token, keep the default order size and tick size, and click Create Market. The tool creates the market accounts and shows your Market ID — save it.

Cost: the market's Solana rent-exempt balance (about 0.3 SOL for the smallest market size, up to 2.8 SOL for the largest, which is the default) plus a 0.5 SOL CoinDevTools fee. Want an AmmV4 pool? The Raydium AmmV4 Pool tool builds the market for you, so you don't need to create one here first.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I create an OpenBook market ID on Solana?

Connect your wallet, choose your SPL token as the base token and SOL as the quote token, keep the default minimum order size and tick size, and click Create Market. The tool creates the OpenBook market accounts and then shows the new Market ID — copy and save it, because it is not stored anywhere else. No CLI, no code, and you do not need to change the advanced queue lengths.

How much does an OpenBook market cost?

Creating a standalone OpenBook market on Solana typically costs 0.3-2.8 SOL in Solana rent-exempt balance, depending on the market size you choose (this tool offers three presets and defaults to the largest), plus a 0.5 SOL CoinDevTools platform fee — roughly 0.8-3.3 SOL total. This is one reason CPMM pools are preferred for most launches — they skip the OpenBook market entirely.

Do I need an OpenBook market ID for a Raydium pool?

Only for a legacy Raydium AmmV4 pool. A Raydium CPMM pool needs no market at all, and CoinDevTools' own Raydium AmmV4 Pool tool creates the OpenBook market for you automatically as part of that flow — you don't need to create one here first. Use this standalone market tool when you need a market for something else, such as the separate Legacy AmmV4 Pool tool (which has a field for an existing Market ID) or your own order-book integration.

Is OpenBook the replacement for Serum?

Yes. OpenBook is the community fork of the Serum v2 order-book program, created after Serum development stopped in late 2022, and it is the program Raydium AmmV4 pools use for their markets today. In current tooling a "Serum market ID" and an "OpenBook market ID" mean the same thing: the address of a market account on the OpenBook program.
